This is a
commonly asked question, and the answer has never changed. It's bloody

You need to have acquired a reasonable understanding of RP knowledge

It is beneficial to have a pilots license

This is how to format your application properly.

((OOC Info: 1. What timezone are you in (Put country, not GMT)?
2. Can you speak and type fluently in english?
3. Do you understand that you can be fired for OOC and IC reasons?
4. Do you have experience with being a cop anywhere (RL DOES NOT COUNT)?
5. Do you have any admin warnings (if yes, state what for)?
6. What level are you?
7. Post screenshot of your stats here. ))

FROM A RECRUITING OFFICER.

It is THOROUGHLY important that you don't harrass any cops,
admins or anyone else about your' application. Even if it is taking
considerable time to answer, you may -bump your' thread, but remember
that any harassment ingame about your app earns you a lovely AUTODENY
2. Getting Ready for the LAPD

First off, get yourself San Andreas Mod Installer
http://grandtheftauto.filefront.com/file/San_Andreas_Mod_Installer_SAMI;55091

Then, Download the street map mod
http://www.mediafire.com/?ahn3mmhdzdh

Finally, grab yourself the IMG Tool
http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=63

1. First up, install SAMI.
2.
Unzip the Mapmod, go through all the directories untill you arrive in a
folder filled with "texture(number).txd" and scroll down 'till you find
the .sami file
3. Double click the .sami file, it will open the Mod Installer. Follow the prompts.
4. Open up the IMG tool, and in your GTA directory, open Models > Gta3.img.
5. Press Commands > Rebuild Archive and wait for it to finish.

Then you are all set! Close IMG Tool and start up Sa-MP!

What
this has done, is added a lovely Map Mod, which allows you to see the
names of the roads and streets both in your minimap and standard one

3. LAPD Rules

1. Follow orders given by higher ranks at ALL times. If the orders are
corrupt, you are to report to a Captain immediately. If the captain is
the corrupt one, come see me.

2. Uniforms are to be worn at ALL times. Failure to use one will result in you being 1 rank lower.

3.
If you do corrupt shit, fuck demoting you, you might as well pack your
shit up and get the fuck out because once i catch you, you're fucked.
((THIS GOES OOCLY TOO))

4. Follow the fucking road rules, set an
example for other people to follow, we're keepers of the peace, not
fucking thugs. (( stole a star wars line on that one, the keepers of the
peace one. The not thugs was my own :O ))

5. Lethal force WILL be allowed IF NEEDED. Using it when not needed will result in you being at a desk job for the next 2 years. ((2 weeks in real life))

THESE RULES CAN CHANGE AT ANY TIME. Make sure you keep updated.

5. Representing LAPD

As a
part of San Andreas' only currently operating Law Enforcement agency,
you are going to see that the streets aren't all fun and games. There
are real criminals out there, who develop anti-police paradigms very
easily. This is majorly our fault. To stop this senseless violence
against us, we need to know how to appear friendly and helpful. And NOT
the enemy. When you get in game, come see me for some public relation
lessons.
6. Your new toolkit

Becoming a part of LAPD opens up a whole new world of commands for you to use... here is a list of the most important ones

CHAT

You now have two new radio channels, /r and /d

These are both IC channels, and to speak OOC'ly with them, you must manually enter (()) around your text.

/r
is LAPD radio, and /d is Department radio. With /d you can communicate
with the other law enforcement agencies in San Andreas.

SIGNING ON: [your badge number], Signing on patrol
SIGNING OFF: [your badge number], Signing off patrol

This simply prevents Metagame. This is its sole purpose.

/m is your megaphone. It is equipped to all Law Enforcement vehicles (Minus undercover ones)

How to operate it? simply type /m [text]

When
writing with /m, be sure to be clear and grammatically correct. A
keybinder, such as chaos, is extremely helpful when dealing with binds.
You can get chaos here: http://www.mediafire.com/?4rovlm5wnla
here is a list of useable binds
t/reception ~ t/me slides his keycard on the door scanner. ~

t/tazer ~ ((due to the new update /ta playerid.))

t/me takes a DEagle out of his jacket and switches the safety off. ~

t/me takes an M4 out of his bag and switches the safety off. ~

t/m LSPD!! Pull over now or you will be made to stop!! ~

t/s LAPD!! Hands where I can see them! ~

t/me switches the safety back on and puts the DEagle back in his jacket. ~

t/me switches the safety back on and puts the M4 back in his bag. ~

REMEMBER... although binds are useful, don't spam with them. Its a good way to get fired.
((And Admin punishment-read rules for spam policy))
ACTIONS

/wanted - use in a LSPD vehicle or at a computer (the spinning stars in LSPD - checks the current wanted list
/mdc - checks a players current criminal record
/cuff - Will cuff a tazed player or one with their handsup
"u" - switches between your handgun and your tazer
/detain - throws a cuffed player into the last vehicle you were in
    /arrest
    - use this in the lspd garage on the face-lookin' spinning icon. -
arrests a player for a set time, and allows you to set bail
/ticket - hands a ticket to a player, the amount is customizable
/frisk - allows you to search a player for contraband
/drunktest - checks for alcohol in the player's system
/gunfrisk - will tell you what guns the player is holding
    /reception - opens/closes the reception door
/gate lspd - opens/closes the LSPD garage gates.
7. Acceptable behavior

REMEMBER- you now represent the LSPD...

THIS MEANS -
    You are not corrupt
    You are respectful
    You respect the peace
    You are law abiding
You do not provoke, condone, or un-necessarily take part in violence
You will not willingly allow others to break the law
    You respect your superiors
You wear the required uniform correctly and properly
    You report unlawfulness without bias

etc.
Bottom line is, act like a cop IRL and you shouldn't have any dramas.
Remember though, do not infringe on a player's rights, and do not commit
MG, PG or DM... otherwise you will find yourself out of a job a lot
quicker than it took to get it.
8. Training with LAPD

Now,
before you go out and kick some criminal behind, you need to have
acquired the skills and knowledge that LAPD can pass on. As long as you
are a Cadet, you are in training.

You'll have to pass the regiment assigned to training officers by trainer Nader_Mohamed.
Driving Test - [An officer] will drive you to a random place in San
Andreas and you'll have to drive like a civilian to get [you two] back. -
Should you fail this, [they'll] make sure that you NEVER drive the
Police Cruisers during patrols.
Pursuit Test - You'll be chasing [an
officer] through Los Santos as if you were a real officer. - If you fail
this test, [they shall] train you in the police cruiser.
Standoff - [Cadet and officer] will be reporting to paintball for a little one on one showdown.
Knowledge
of the Law - [An Officer] will question you about a few laws. You'll
tell [them] the info [they] want and punishment for not following the
law.

They may also be some subtle hints in there as well. Watch for them.
The tests are relatively easy, and the Former Trainer will let some of the Lieutenants in on the training procedure.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
So
that's that! Have fun! Play Hard, but most of all, stick to those
rules! I look forward to patrolling with each and every one of you!

Flick
through the rest of the LAPD forum, and review the other documentation
here! Learn your' radio codes, check out the handbook and much more!
